Many in the community struggle with the sentence for Leland Kolkmeyer: “It is too lenient.” “It is a slap in the face of the community.” “It will take forever for him to repay the community.” etc. Many feel that the action by the federal prosecutors did little to offset the pain and anger that they have been dealing with for a year and a half after the discovery of the betrayal and years of lies regarding fire District and Road District funds.
But what do we do when there is so much anger or pain over the offenses that we have suffered? How do we move forward when these things drag me down? Why SHOULD I move forward when an offender hasn’t been punished adequately?
Even if the Kolkmeyer situation wasn’t going on right now, these are still issues that every person needs to work through.
What does God’s Word have to say to us in these situations?
