This new series looks at the life and teachings of Jesus
as portrayed in the 15 stained glass windows
that adorn the sanctuary of the St. Luke Evangelical Free Church.
This week we start with the childhood of Jesus…
Many writers and religions have seized upon
Jesus’ childhood– from Hindus to the Muslims,
from the Gnostics to Catholic writers.
How do we separate the legendary
and mythical from the real history of Jesus?
And what do we learn from His childhood?
What can we apply to our own lives from what we learn about
Jesus and his mother Mary and his stepfather Joseph?
Let’s examine the eye witness and historical accounts
in the Bible to clear away the fanciful and zero in on the facts.
Along the way, we will also learn some of the
historical background of these windows and their benefactors.
